Wonderful adventure for my grandchildren!

I purchased a copy of this book to read to my grandchildren when they come to visit. Both the boys and girls love the well written story of two friends who face adversity and work together to solve various problems. The story encourages each child to use their imagination to picture the well described adventures and problems needed to be solved. It's a great story that kept the children enthralled. They wanted it read to them many times. I have purchased a copy for each of my children's families, so they can continue the excitement of using there imagination over and over again.

It was a very sweet story about conflict resolution

It was a very sweet story about conflict resolution, which I enjoyed reading it to my grandchildren. However the story was written over the illustrations, so it was hard to read and difficult for the children to see the illustrations clearly. The illustrations were so light that it was often difficult to see the main characters and distinguish them from each other. They tended to blend in together.
Overall, a nice moral and each for young children to understand.

I've found this book very helpful. Vocabulary, short dialogues and contextualized usage make learning and remembering Gujarati easier. My husband, a native Gujarati speaker, has aided in pronunciations. I still have not downloaded the sound files to comment on that aspect of the book. If you want to learn Gujarati and you learn visually, this book is a good resource.

I wanted a wall calendar for work, which means something not-offensive-to-anyone neutral. Most of the options were boring, so I was happy to find this attractive calendar. The larger picture is a detail, but there's a small picture of the whole work which is identified. The squares are large enough to write notes (mostly upcoming meetings - I also keep an electronic calendar, but it truncates words, so I like the paper calendar), and the paper is thick and smooth without being glossy.

A great edition of this traditional tale of the cunning rabbit outsmarting his foes from Tanzania. Love the illustrations and that it's told in two languages. My children loved it and proceeds benefit shipping copies to children in Tanzania.

My 2 year old loves this book!

My 2 year old loves this book, and bounces when I pull it out at bedtime. After a few days, he has started pointing at pictures, and says things like up, down, banana, star, happy, sad, bowl, hat etc… The book is colorful, with pictures of real life objects cut-out on various solid colored backgrounds. Here is my overview of what is in the book.

1) The book opens with the alphabet. The alphabet is paired with animals, starting with alligator and ending with zebra.
2) Numbers are paired with food. Numbers go from 1 to 10 and the food items are mostly fruit and vegetables.
3) Colors start with a picture of a rainbow. Then, there are 7 pictures of colored objects showing each color of the rainbow.
4) Opposites goes through quite a few important concepts. Included are, up/down, in/out, hot/cold, wet/dry, front/back, on/off, open/closed, empty/full, safe/danger, big/small, asleep/awake, long/short.
5) Shapes pair objects with the following shapes. Circle, square, rectangle, triangle, cone, star, oval, and heart.
6) Sounds demonstrate a variety of noises, from animals (monkey, cow, rooster), people (sneeze, hush), and objects (phone, drum).
7) Actions shows pictures of kids as they crawl, roll, walk, run, hop, ride, kiss, and jump.
8) Emotions shows expressions on kids faces for happy, sad, angry, scared, frustrated, shock, surprise, and bravery.
9) Sports identifies different types of balls, showing baseball, basketball, tennis, soccer, volleyball, football, and golf.
10) Engines shows pictures of different types of vehicles, like fire truck, car, race car, helicopter, airplane, and truck.
11) Sizes shows small, medium, and large varieties of flowers, berries, leaves, and toys.
12) Body, identifies head, shoulders, knees, toes, eyes, ears, mouth, and nose. I love singing this page.
13) Tableware shows, sippy cup, bowl, pot, cup, plate, fork, knife, and spoon.
14) Clothing runs through hat, shirt, pants, shorts, gloves, sunglasses, socks, and shoes.
15) Bath time shows a toddler in a bath, soap, and a rubber duck.
16) Bed time shows a kid brushing their teeth, a potty, book, and a child sleeping in bed.
17) Activity. The book ends with an activity page, asking kids to identify the different images on the page which look like they were randomly selected from different sections of the book. My son will point to them as I read them out loud, and only struggles with two of them.

This book was absolutely worth it. It is an excellent resource to teach my son a whole bunch of words and concepts. Highly recommended.

Short and Sweet. A crash course in Skin Applications with Essential Oils

I'm a big fan of The Secret Healer and enjoy her colorful writings so much. I really recommend reading her other books as well. Currently I'm studying skin applications with EO's and her explanation of the skin is like cliff notes for my course, simple easy and accurate. Liz is witty and very well practiced as I could tell by her recipes. If you follow The Secret Healer Writes on Facebook you'll see how fast she whips these books out, she's no novice! I look forward to her sensitive skin book. Oh and my own testimony, Vitamin D makes a huge difference in skin color and texture. I'm vitamin D deficient and a few mega doses later...HUGE difference in my skin, hair and nails (appendages of our skin). Bravo Liz, now have that cake anyways:) love Su

WASTE OF TIME READ. BE CAREFUL USING THESE RECIPES IF YOU INTEND TO GIVE THEM AWAY.

After having taken classes on how to make several different skincare products from a professional, I thought this book would only enhance my current knowledge. It was written recklessly in my opinion. As a maker of natural skincare, it is the makers responsibility to ensure the product is safe. When using water, you must have a proper preservative to ensure bacteria, mold and fungus do not grow. Google up staph infections from moisturizers or any product using water without preservatives. Be warned, without a preservative you are playing with fire. Bacteria is not something you can see. There are plenty of safe, worldwide preservatives on the market like Optiphen ND, which has a usage of 1% in lotions. If you are using these recipes, they are best to be used straight away, not a month or two down the road. Do not give these to people as gifts or you may be dealing with a bigger issue. You can tell people all day to keep refrigerated and in a cool dark place, discarding use after maximum 10 days but you can not count on people to do that. I could not take this book seriously once I saw the recipes and the lack of proper preserving. Absolutely no way I would ever consider selling these recipes. I'd have a lawsuit on my hands. Well Done! This is the best book hands down on skin care! Miss Ashley knows the skin - inside and out. Buy this book for yourself and a friend, you will not be disappointed - I promise! It's a great book with wonderful recipes - I can not wait to start whipping up some of these fantastic skin remedies. I would give this book 10 stars if I could !!

I really like the way it was written

That's really an exciting reading. On the beginning of the book you are introduced to the dark underground life of creatures living deep beneath the earth's surface. One of them is the so called Magma Tube which evolved from bacteria over a long period of evolution. As the book continues you will found out that the magma tube is not the only creature living there. What's more, you will learn much more. It is a very interesting untold mysterious story about the battle of this creatures and the human kind. Later on you are also introduced to a story of a married couple Penny and Pete. I really like the way it was written. Just perfect, i like the imagination and fantasy that emphasize this powerful and unique storyline. I have learned many interesting facts and i will read the book again on my ebook reader soon. Thank you i love it

The author explores exciting life Magma Cubes - You have to know the truth! Then here comes an interesting story of the married couple Pete and Penny. I find myself reading it over and over again! I like how the author uses imaginary creatures to explain the truth. This book has taught me a lot.

"With its soft charcoal outlines, three-color images and matte pages, Japanese author-artist Sakai's book looks as if it could have been published in the early '60s, yet her theme is timeless. The measured pacing of the text and roomy spreads evoke a more leisurely era. Emily, a toddler with short hair and gray overalls, has trouble holding onto her yellow helium-filled balloon, until her mother (who wears a skirt and high heels) wisely ties it to a spoon ("Look! It floats, but it doesn't fly away!"). Emily and the balloon share a happy afternoon in the garden, picking flowers and making matching leafy crowns, until a gust blows the balloon up into a tree, and it stays there. "We wanted to eat together," the text reads, as Emily sits at the table in tears, imagining supper and then bedtime with her new friend. Sakai smoothly moves from Emily's thoughts to her words, always keeping readers in the heroine's mindset. "One afternoon, Emily got a balloon." From this straightforward first line follows a picture book imported from Japan that perfectly reflects a very young child's worldview. Toddler Emily's balloon comes home with her and, tied to a spoon, floats at just the right height for companionship. The two friends play until a gust of wind sends the balloon up into a tree, where, to Emily's dismay, it gets stuck. Even so, it provides a reassuring presence outside Emily's window all night, "just like the moon." Soft pencil-and-wash sketches, all in grays and browns except for the bright yellow balloon, reinforce the child-centered feel of the book as they focus squarely on Emily's attachment to her balloon friend. For all their simplicity, the illustrations are remarkably expressive, particularly at capturing a toddler's body language. Sakai's minimal text segues fluidly and coherently from an omniscient narrator's voice to that of Emily's mother and even Emily herself and is nicely matter-of-fact, never condescending nor sentimental in its acceptance of object as friend. A wonderful tale

I had checked this book out of our local library, along with a myriad of others, and it became my daughter's favorite. She was 19 mths at the time, and really related to Emily and her yellow balloon. She loved it so much, it turned up for Christmas last year and still has a special place among her favorite stories.

This is a wonderful little tale about the relationships little ones build with their favorite things. It's sweet, tender and even a bit sad - and our daughter relates to all the pieces (even giving Emily a hug and a kiss when she is sad at the end). I was originally drawn to the book because the illustrations remind me of many of my own children's books. I was pleasantly suprised to find out how new it is and look forward to more work from Sakai.

This book makes my child smile

My child loves this book to no end. When she is crying, we can recite the book without it being there and she will stop to listen. My husband will say the title and she will smile. The repetitive structure of the text, bold patterns behind the print, and the large pictures of babies are all things that capture her attention and make her smile and laugh.

About the Author
Kristiana Gregory has published more than 30 children's books with Scholastic, Harcourt and Holiday House, and has now ventured into self-publishing with her memoir LONGHAND: ONE WRITER'S JOURNEY. She grew up in Manhattan Beach, California, two blocks from the beach and she always loved to make up stories. Her first rejection letter at age eleven was for a poem she wrote in class when she was supposed to be doing a math assignment. She's had a myriad of odd jobs: telephone operator, lifeguard, camp counselor, reporter, book reviewer & columnist for the LA Times. Kristiana's award-winning novels include JENNY OF THE TETONS, which earned the SCBWI Golden Kite Award. Set in 1876, it tells the story of the Shoshone Indian and her fur-trapper husband, Beaver Dick Leigh. Jenny Lake and Leigh Lake in Wyoming are named after this couple. STALKED: DANGER AND FURY, ELLIS ISLAND 1912 won the 2012 Gold Medal for Young Adult Mystery from Literary Classics and is hailed as "historical fiction with a thrilling twist." I wish there was a fourth book. Such a great story, rich with history, and hard to put down. I loved the characters, and learned so much about this time period, and our history. Great, great book!
